Light foxing present to the edges of the text block. Boards have wear present to the extremities of the boards (spine is barely attached and chipped). Bound in cloth with heavile faded titles present to the spine. Signed and inscribed by Henry Miller on the FFEP. First Pirated American edition that was printed in Mexico in 1940. Note: No International orders for this item. Unique 1st printing copy of Miller classic with related signatures. Also SIGNED by Pulitizer Prize poet KARL SHAPIRO on a small card affixed at the end of his introducyion section. Rosset was instrumental as owner of Grove Press to help overcome court obsenity cases to get Tropic of Cancer published (relatively scarce signature). Also attached to front end page is a bookplate SIGNED (inscribed) by famed publisher BARNEY ROSSET. SIGNED by HENRY MILLER on a card affixed to half-title page: "Bless you - Henry Miller, LA # 444" (#444 was his house number on Ocampo Drive in LA after 1963). DJ price-clipped rubbed and has general wear at edges, some staining and chips at spine ends and corners and long chip at rear edge with tape repair on obverse mylar protected. Blue boards with black cloth spine some wear to bottom boards and rear corner.
